It was her revenge after her first defeat in Canterlot. Beside she didn't kill all those ponies, she put them in the pods Another Chrysalis by Underpable

The only way to make this day perfect would to switch out Shining Armor with Sombra.

Chrysalis: This, my love.... is the beginning of a new area... and you are part of it...
Shining Armor: Uh.... Yes, my love.
C: Your sister was close to stop me, but it seems she failed once I got rid of it. Even Celestia was nothing against me!
S: Uh.... Yes, my love.
C: *sigh* This green goes so well with the color of the sky...
S: But it suits your eyes much better, Chrysalis.
C: Aww... Thank you, little stallion... Now I'll...
Chrysalis was stunned. This stallion which was under her control spell, spoke freely.
C: Uh... what did you say?
S: I said that this fire looked like the one into your eyes.
C: That....that's not what exactly you said... what's going on?
Suddenly, the castle's fire extinguish and under her abashed eyes, it began to rebuilt itself.
C: WHAT?!? HOW?!?!?
Shining turned his head face the queen.
S: You thought you won didn't you?
The voice was not longer Shining's. It was a strong female voice instead. Not the one of the pink princess, but seemed from an older and more authoritarian but not the sun monarch's. She stood and took a distance from the stranger.
C: W-who are you?!?
S: That is of no importance. What is important is that you failed.
C: I.... failed? I didn't failed!!! Look at the castle...
The castle was in the same state as it was before her invasion.
C: Im-impossible!!! It was burning!
S: No more. Now that they are safe and sound, I'll make sure that this won't happen ever again!
His horn was glowing blue, but a darker blue than Cadence's. The glow enveloped her horn. She fough it back with her own magic, but the glow came back stronger. She was powerless against that mysterious foe. It caught her tired and without the support of Shining's love she was unable to strike back. The glow surrounded her crooked horn and with agonizing pain, it broke.
Chrysalis woke up screaming, covered in sweat and panting. She was in her royal bed. She stood up, still panting. One servant come in, bursting her bedchamber's door wide open while running.
Servant: My queen? Are you okay? We heard you scream and...
Chrysalis took a breath before talking.
Chrysalis: I... I'm alright. I... I only had a nightmare...
Servant: I'm relieve that your highness is okay. May I be of service while I am here?
Chrysalis: Yes. B...bring me a glass of water. Now.
Servant: Yes, my queen.
He left the room, slower and was about to close the door behind him, leaving the queen alone when she called him to come back.
Servant: Yes?
Chrysalis: W-when the Canterlot's invasion was planified again?
Servant: Your highness?
Chrysalis: I... don't remember on the spot, so could you...
Servant: Umm.... in a week, I think.
C: You're sure?
Servant: Y-yes.
C: Good. Bring me my glass of water now.
Servant: Yes, your highness.
He left, door closed behind him.
Chrysalis, still sitting in her bed, her back against the head of her luxurious bed, was contemplating the moon outside. It was full tonight.
Chrysalis: I dreamed of this for far too long to stop now. I'll make sure this powerful pony... or rather princess.... won't oppose to my plans of invasions. My subjects are hungry and I have to make sure that their queen will respect her duty to make them feed to fill their stomachs. Yes. That cutesy Cadence won't see what hit her...

I hope you liked. BEautiful work. Quite the villain that queen.
