The shading in this picture is beautifully done! I love how you added the collar around nightmare moons neck! It brings a different kind of side to the story of her be banished and the she's actually trap there on the moon. The little drawings in the moon are epic! Luna has to entertain herself somehow ^^ <3 The angle on the face is amazing. Yet I would've liked to see more angle on the body. I SEE IT! I SEE THE WHEATLEY! OMG! HECK YEAH! THIS PICTURE IS PERFECT! I feel like there can be more shading on the mane. It seems you stuck with one kind of darker shade then using three or four like you did with the body. The world can be a little more detailed, maybe add some lights. The timer on the collar is genious...I really like how you added that! Your version of her banishment is epic! I love how shes patiently sitting there waiting to escape. Great job :3
This is the first critique I've done in this format, so I hope it's alright..
First, this is one of the most beautiful depictions of Nightmare that I've seen. The technique you've used with her mane, though somewhat simple, is absolutely wonderful.
For originality + impact I give a 4-4.5 because overall, it's Nightmare still stuck on the moon. However.. you've drawn her in a unique way; showing a content smile on her face, knowing that she's about to be freed, rather than wicked and vengeful toward her sister.. Which is a very nice change.
Her lack of armor and the angle of her body also amplify the feeling. She's completely exposed here, but is looking up at the world, seemingly happy just to be going back.
The chain with a timer is also a nice touch, I've seen the whole "chained to the moon" thing before, but never like this. And the collar itself is rather elegant looking even though it doesn't seem to have much time spent on the individual sections of the chain. (and the addition of the doodles and Wheatley are a funny/cute touch)
Personally, I think it might look better with a bit more detail in the sparkles of her mane, and the stars.. and maybe the links to the chain.
But other than those few things, this is a wonderful, breathtaking piece.
Maybe... but there seems to be a HUGE misunderstand in this fandom, a lot (if not most) seem to believe that she was running around on the surface of the moon, while the show quite clearly says she was sealed inside of it... but then again I know people are stupid, so that is probably the real problem. Simple words are very confusing!!!
If you think that people are stupid, what makes you think that you are smarter than them? It's a silly cartoon about technicolor horses and if people don't want to follow every single little canon detail doesn't automatically make them stupid. You know, there might be a lot of reasons why they believe so. For some it might be a matter of translation, or they just didn't remember that exact words and saw a lot fan art of her on the moon and thought she was on the moon and not inside of it and so on. In case of artists, as I said earlier it's just much more interesting to draw her on the moon than inside of it. And I don't know why some fans are creating shitstorms just because of that, cause I don't see any real problem in it.
Higher than average IQ (I always feel like an asshole to point this out, but it's true nonetheless), Bachelor, Philosopher, free thinker. Stuff like that.
Wasn't really the point. It was more the fact that a lot of people seem to have problems with understanding words (and context for that matter), but then again, America has a pretty sad illiteracy rate (meaning that it's very high compared to other developed countries, and according to the Department of Justice: "The link between academic failure and delinquency, violence, and crime is welded to reading failure.") and aren't all that well known for their "intelligence" and it's pretty much a fact that most people who watch MLP are from there. Regardless, I just find the norm quite stupid. After all, most people in this word believe fairy tales to be the real deal (I'm talking about religion here). It's the minority (scientists etc.) that punches humanity forward.
“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.” -George Carlin
A shitstorm be brewin... but honestly, I don't want to make a big deal of this. So let's just call it quits? -with love from an Agnostic
Let's not touch religious topic here. And I couldn't care less about America's illiteracy rate. We were talking about the concept behind NMM's location. I don't always shove my opinion into other people's faces, your comment just got past the boiling point. I just got tired of people who thinks that their duty is to write obvious things in comments, like "It's not canon", "He/she is out of character". Or trying to tell me what I should change in my ideas for drawings, something like "it's not supposed to be here, I didn't see any mention of this in the show/game/book/fanfic/elsewhere", "Your technique sucks because it looks sketchy", "You should do this like that and blah blah blah blah".
Fair enough that you do what you want. Regardless, a lot of people seem to have a hearing problem. But hey, people can't understand the Bible for shit either, so how could they possibly understand the lore of a cartoon made for small kids?
I'm not saying you have this "issue" but I just find it a little sad that so many people can get something so simple so very wrong. And trust me, it isn't because they just changed it to make it fit better into whatever they are doing. But because they think that is what the show states.
Again, I will suggest to call it quits... this is a silly conversation. -with love from an Agnostic
